PIE and Drobots Company Host Drone STEM Summer Camp for Local Students

Program features drone racing and obstacle course challenge

CINCINNATI – (April 6, 2018) Cincinnati-based Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) and the Drobots Company, the #1 Drone STEM camp program for kids and teens in the country, are teaming up to offer a summer camp program for local fifth through eighth grade students offering hands on experience using drones in fun, engaging ways such as drone racing and an obstacle course challenge.

Robert Elwood, Drobots Company CEO, added “We are thrilled to be in Cincinnati this summer with PIE. Our programs are meant to get kids out of their chairs and into the air with real-life challenges created by leading industry partners. Our program is tailored for kids interested in drones, science, technology, flight, racing, math, robotics, engineering, business, photography, aerial mapping and entrepreneurship.”

“We are excited to offer this new camp for Cincinnati Public School students and educators interested in STEM programs using drones. PIE offers a unique marriage between emerging industry leaders and educators bridging classroom learning with real-world relevance. Kids not only have fun this summer, but they also learn about one of the fastest growing industries. During the camp, students get to exercise their problem-solving and creative thinking skills while using drones for games, races and in exciting challenges. Educators see how they can use drones in their programming, data science, engineering, robotics and career technology classrooms,” said Mary Welsh Schlueter, CEO for PIE.

The camp will take place from June 25-29, 2018 at the Hyde Park School (3401 Edwards Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208). Registration is $325 per student with scholarships available. No previous drone experience is necessary. Students can register here.
