Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted Recognizes PIE for Non-Profit Month

CINCINNATI – (May 22, 2017) Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted recently recognized Cincinnati-based Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) as part of the Ohio Business Profile program, which features non-profits in Ohio for the month of May 2017. This honor recognizes how PIE creates transformational and results-driven educational tools to help prepare Ohio students for the 21st century workforce and success in the global marketplace.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Ohio Secretary of State. This honor recognizes our efforts to help local students gain ‘hands on’ career experience and solve real world challenges faced by local businesses and non-profit organizations,” said Mary Welsh Schlueter, CEO of PIE.

Examples of PIE programs include helping students learn about careers in cyber forensics, biotechnology, health care, drone aviation and robotics design, with career and college credentials awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Ohio Department of Health, and Ohio Department of Higher Education with 100 percent job placement.

Ohio Secretary of State representatives awarded PIE during a special ceremony at Kilgour Elementary School on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

“Every day, I meet people whose lives have been changed for the better thanks to non-profits like PIE,” Ohio Secretary of State Husted said. “PIE’s commitment to helping students in the Cincinnati area gain greater confidence in their abilities and begin to envision their own career path is important work. Like so many non-profits around Ohio, they’re addressing problems in their community and improving the quality of life for the people they serve.”

During May, the Ohio Business Profile program is recognizing Ohio non-profit businesses like PIE. Ohio Business Profile was launched in 2011 making people aware of Ohio companies that are creating interesting products, offering outstanding service, contributing to their local communities and employing Ohioans in the process. Each month, a handful of diverse businesses linked together by a common theme are featured on the Secretary of State’s website, where Ohioans are encouraged to submit companies they feel are deserving of recognition in future months.
