PIE to Help Local High School Girls Explore Data Analytics and IT Careers during 14thWomen in Information Technology Conference

CINCINNATI – (October 18,2018) Cincinnati-based Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) will help local high school educators and over 600 female high school students explore data analytics and learn about data visualization career pathways and IT-related fields during the 14thannual Women in Information Technology (WiIT) conference on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Xavier University’s Cintas Center.

During the all-day conference, PIE will team up with CaseLAB to facilitate the educator program, which will feature several technology and digital learning programs taking place in Cincinnati Public High Schools, such as Walnut Hills High School and Robert A. Taft Information Technology High School. Participating educators will receive a free academic license to data visualization software for classroom use.

Also during the conference, high school students will get the opportunity to solve “real life” Information Technology, Informatics, Data Analytics and Computer Science challenges with women working in the field using the latest technology and design thinking skillsets. Students will learn from regional entrepreneurs to create solutions for global business partners, engage in collaborative social media experiences with business mentors and compete for prizes.

“We are excited to be a part of this annual event that brings together our region’s top women IT leaders with educators and students to showcase the latest technology trends and leading technology careers. It is a great day for learning, sharing and connecting high school students with mentors in cutting-edge career fields,” said Mary Welsh Schlueter, PIE CEO.
