PIE Hosts Ohio Department of Education for Community Connectors Outreach Session

CINCINNATI – (Dec. 8, 2016) Cincinnati-based Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) will host the Ohio Department of Education’s (ODE) Community Connectors Ohio outreach session on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. During the event, the ODE’s Community Connectors staff will provide an overview of the grant and grant program for non-profit organizations and other interested parties. Current grant recipients will serve as panelists during the session to share their experiences and provide tips.

“We are excited to host the ODE for this outreach session that will help other organizations learn about this great grant opportunity, which has truly benefited our programs and Ohio students,” said Mary Welsh Schlueter, PIE CEO. PIE has received two consecutive Community Connectors grants from the ODE in support of PIE’s programs, which help Ohio students gain hands on career experience through problem-solving learning and mentoring opportunities with local business and community leaders.

Established in 2014 by the governor and Ohio legislature, the ODE Community Connectors program brings together students, their parents, schools, communities, faith or values based organizations and businesses in mentoring programs. The grant program seeks to strengthen communities, encourage mentoring opportunities and create new pathways for civic engagement that will result in high educational achievement, higher levels of well-being and health, and workforce readiness for Ohio.
